Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic is back on WTA Tour!
The long-awaited beautiful news for Serbian women's tennis has finally arrived - Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic returns to the WTA Tour.
After nearly two years of injury break, Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic will play her first match this weekend. After a long break, Bojana will perform in the qualifiers of WTA St. Petersburg which will be played from 27.1-4.2. Bojana's first opponent in the qualifications will be Oceane Dodin (FRA, 5). Bojana and Dodin will play their match on Saturday at 7.30 CET.
Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic, one of the best Serbian tennis players and former TOP 50 player, was injured because of a right wrist injury and an operation she had nearly two years away from tennis. The last tournament which she played was Roland Garros 2016.
Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic was born in Belgrade on the last day of 1991. She started playing tennis at the age of seven, and her first club was Red Star. At the age of 12 she won the national championship of Serbia (U14) and played the final (U16). As a junior, her best place at the ITF Junior Rankings was 5. Her coach is her father, Zoran Jovanovski.
In 2008, Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic won her first ITF Futures tournament in Prokuplje (SRB), Vinkovci (CRO), Brcko (BIH). As early as 2010, Bojana entered the WTA TOP 100 and finished the year on 71st place.
The first WTA tournament, Bojana won in 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. In the tournament finals, Bojana was better than Julia Cohen (USA) in two sets 6-3,6-1. To the final, Bojana came after a victories over Lesia Tsurenko (UKR), Valeria Solovieva (RUS), Aleksandra Krunic (SRB) and Alexandra Panova (RUS).
During 2013, Bojana won two WTA tournaments, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Ningbo $ 125,000 Series. Her Career High Singles Ranking was 32 on 04/08/2014. Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic regularly performed for the Fed Cup team of Serbia and often made significant victories for her team.
During her tennis career, the Serbian tennis player was able to make a victory over the best world players. She won the biggest wins in the games against Lucie Safarova (CZE) at Australian Open 2013, Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) at the Italian Open and French Open 2013, Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) at Birmingham 2013, Victoria Azarenka (BLR) at Wimbledon 2014, Madison Keys (USA) at Italian Open 2015, etc.
During the break, Milos Petrovic, a professional kayaker and Master of Physical Education married Bojana.
Bojana Jovanovski Petrovic is remembered as a tennis player with strong kicks, extremely strong forehand and backhand. Her biggest mistake during her career was poor service and poor movement.
