Jared Donaldson is an professional tennis player from USA. He was born at Providence, Rhode Island. His coaches are Jan-Michael Gambill and Mardy Fish, former professional tennis player. He was born on October 9, 1996. His favourite surface is clay.
Junior career:
Jared started to play tennis when he was 4 years old. His Career High Combined Ranking on ITF Juniors was 113 on January 14, 2013. First tournament on ITF Juniors level, Jared played in June 2015 on Bank of Bermuda Foundation ITF Junior Circuit Tournament in Pembroke, Bermuda (G5). Jared performed in the qualifications and easily passed two games and so went into the main draw of the tournament. He scored 3 good wins in this tournament but was defeated by Daniel Shebshayevich (USA) in two tiebreaks in a semifinal match. During the summer of the same year, he also performed at the U16 category tournaments, but already in August 2011 he went to the new junior tournament at St.Lucia (G5).He was defeated in two sets, although in the first he had a great resistance (6-7,1-6).
The first major success, Jared makes at the SVG ITF Junior Tournament at St.Vincent & the Grenadines (G5). Jared has reached the first junior title without losing a set in all 5 games. In the final, he was more successful than Vicente Bronstein (CHI) in two sets 7-6,6-4. By the end of 2011, Jared played several more tournaments but was not so successful.
The first appearance in 2012 at junior tournaments, Jared made in Chile at Copa Milo (G2) where he came to 3 rounds and defeated by good French junior Maxime Hamou in two sets 4-6,2-6.
The first better result on major tournaments, Jared made the G2 Urugay Bowl where from qualifications reach to the semifinals and higher points for the junior list. In the semifinals he was defeated convincingly in two sets 1-6,2-6 by Alberto Alcaraz Ivorra (ESP).
During 2012, Jared recorded several good results. He played two finals at the G3 and G4 tournaments in Tunisia, where he was both defeated by Filippo Baldi (ITA). During July, he also played at the G2 Tournament in Holland where he reached the semifinals but was defeated by Cheng-Yu Yu in two sets of 2-6,3-6.
In 2013, Jared slowly switches to senior tournaments, but he managed to play three junior tournaments and perform at the US Open Junior Tennis Championship in Flushing Meadows. He was defeated in the first round by Christian Garin (CHI) 6-7,6-4,0-6. In 2014, he performed only on the US Open Junior Tournament where he reached 3 rounds and in that match was defeated by Omar Jasika (AUS) in two sets of 4-6,3-6. With this defeat, Jared finished with his junior career and devoted himself entirely to the senior competitions.

SENIOR CAREER:
With appearances at senior tournaments, Jared began when he was 16 years old. The first futures he played in Caracas, Venezuela. He managed to qualify for the first two rounds, but in quarter-final futures was defeated by domestic tennis player Roberto Maytin 3-6,2-6. In 2012, he played another tournament in Venezuela but was defeated in the second round of Echazu (PER) 1-6,0-6. His senior career began with solid results for him.
In 2013, Jared begins with appearances in June where he ties up several tournaments in Turkey where he achieved several solid results. In July 2013, Jared debuts at ATP Tour in Newport, RI, USA. He performed in the qualifications, he managed to pass the first round after Frank Moser (GER) handed the match in the third set but was defeated by Jan Hernych (CZE) 1-6,3-6 in the second round of the qualification.
Thanks to the USTA, Jared got the WC for U.S.Open qualifications. For the opponent in the first round qualifying draw Jared got Farukh Dustov (UZB), but Jared prevails him in three sets 4-6,6-4,6-3. In second round, Jared defeated another great player Ilya Marchenko (UKR) again in three sets 4-6,6-4,6-0. In the third round of qualifications, Jared waited for Philipp Petzschner (GER). Philipp was a very tough opponent for the inexperienced Jared and he easily defeated him in two sets of 2-6.0-6. Still, this was the greatest success ever for Jared.
In 2014, Jared began with appearances on two challenger tournaments in the USA and Panama but was defeated both times in the first round. Then he goes to the futures tournament in Turkey where he wins one futures and plays one final. During June 2014, Jared won three futures tournaments (Two in the USA, one in Turkey). The first appearance in the main draw of an ATP tournament, Jared scored at ATP Washington but was defeated by Rajeev Ram (USA) 7-6,4-6,5-7. On the U.S. Open, Jared gets WC and in the first round met with Gael Monfils (FRA). Jared managed to play a good match but not enough for more resistance. He was defeated in three sets 4-6,2-6,4-6.
By the end of 2014, Jared played several challenger tournaments, got to one semifinal (Napa Challenger), one quarterfinals (Sacramento Challenger) and several R16. He finished the year on the 260th place at ATP Rankings.
At the start of 2015, Jared wins the first challenger title at the Maui Challenger. In the final Jared defeated Nicolas Meister (USA) 6-1,6-4. During 2015, he regularly played ATP tournaments, played several atp challenger events and came to the finals of another challenger (Sacramento Challenger) where he was defeated by another great American hope Taylor Fritz after a great fight, in three sets of 4-6,6-3,4-6.
At the start of 2016, he played two Australian Open (Australian Open, Brisbane) but did not record good results. The first better results in 2016 are to Irving Challenger where he reached the semifinals. In the first three matches, Jared defeated Tim Smyczek, Michael Venus, Andrey Rublev but was defeated by Aljaz Bedene (GBR) 4-6,3-6 in the semifinals.
The new final of the challenger tournament was already played in Savannah Challenger in April. In the final, Jared was defeated by Bjorn Fratangelo (USA) 1-6,3-6. The first successful results at the ATP Tournaments, Jared celebrates at the Canadian Open in Toronto, Italy's Fabio Fognini won the second round, but in the third round defeated by Milos Raonic (CAN) in two sets 2-6,3-6. He then managed to link victories to tournaments in Atlanta, Cincinnati and then achieve the greatest success in his previous career. On the U.S. Open, Jared passed the qualifications and then reached the third round. In the first round of the main draw, he met with a great David Goffin (BEL) and managed to make a sensation on the tournament when Jared after 4 sets and big fight managed to kick Goffin from the tournament 4-6,7-5,6-4,6-0.
In the second round, Jared managed to beat another great player Viktor Troicki from Serbia in three sets 7-5,6-3,6-3. In the third round, Jared played with Ivo Karlovic (CRO), he managed to offer great resistance but could not match with the strength of Ivo's serves and was defeated in three sets 4-6,6-7,3-6. On the 105th place on the ATP list, Jared ended in 2016.
2017:
By mid-March, Jared recorded some bad results on several ATP tournaments and challenger tournaments. The rise of the form for Jared comes to the tournament in Key Biscayne. He passed the qualifications, in the first round Kyle Edmund was defeated (GBR), in the second round his opponent was Mischa Zverev (GER) but Jared played another fantastic match and put Zverev out of the tournament 6-4,6-4.
On the clay season, Jared recorded several victories but more defeats. Grass season was better for Jared, he managed to reach the third round in Wimbledon, won Tipsarevic and Lorenzi, but was defeated in the third round by Dominic Thiem (AUT) 5-7,4-6,2-6.
On the American Tour, Jared scored good results and break into the ATP list. At the Washington Tournament, Jared passed two rounds but was defeated in the third round by Jack Sock (USA) 6-7,2-6. At the Canadian Open in Montreal, Jared made two victories over the excellent French players (Pouille, Paire), and in third round he offered great resistance against Diego Schwartzman (ARG), but he was defeated despite the greatly played first set (6-0,5-7,5-7).
At the Cincinnati tournament, Jared played the first Masters Quarterfinals. In the quarter-final match he was defeated by a more experienced player, John Isner 6-7,5-7. At this year's U.S. Open, Jared came to the second round and in a thrill match defeated by Pouille (FRA) in 5 sets (5-7,4-6,6-4,6-3,4-6). After U.S. Open, Jared made some poorer results, but more successful results during the first part of this season helped Jared finished 50 places better on the ATP list than in 2016.
