MAGDA LINETTE UPSETS NO. 6 ONS JABEUR IN FIRST ROUND OF FRENCH OPEN

No. 56 Magda Linette stunned No. 6 seed Ons Jabeur, bouncing the Tunisian star in the first round of the French Open Sunday. The Polish underdog outlasted Jabeur in the two-and-a-half-hour battle, notching a 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-5 three-set win. Linette was only 2-16 against Top 10 opponents heading into Sunday’s contest, falling to Jabeur in the third round of the French Open last year. The unseeded Pole played clean tennis to overcome the No. 6 seed, registering 35 unforced errors to Jabeur’s 47. Jabeur has been dominant on dirt up until Sunday’s upset, winning a tour-leading 17 matches on clay in 2022. “I am just happy I managed to fight for every single point,” said Linette following the match, acknowledging the challenge Jabeur presented on clay. Linette now advances to the second round, where she will face the winner of Martina Trevisan and Harriet Dart.

Jared Donaldson is an professional tennis player from USA. He was born at Providence, Rhode Island. His coaches are Jan-Michael Gambill and Mardy Fish, former professional tennis player. He was born on October 9, 1996. His favourite surface is clay.  Junior career: Jared started to play tennis when he was 4 years old. His Career High Combined Ranking on ITF Juniors was 113 on January 14, 2013. DENIS SHAPOVALOV is a professional tennis player from Canada. He was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, the son of Viktor and Tessa Shapovalov. Denis`s family moved from Israel to Canada, before Denis`s first birthday. His career High Singles Ranking of No.49 on October 23, 2017. His coaches are his mother Tessa and Martin Laurendeau. Junior career: Denis had a lot of success during his entire junior career, but he failed to reach the first place in the junior rankings. Denis began playing j unior tournaments  when he was 13 years old when he played his first tournament in Canada at the G5 Tournament in Burlington. He was defeated in the first round of Wilson (USA) in three sets.
